Students from Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sport Sciences achieved three top rankings in both individual and team competitions at the Inter-University Archery Championship of Türkiye, held in Antalya from June 11 to 14, 2025.

OMU student Defne Derebaşı claimed first place in the individual classical bow women's category, earning the title of Turkish champion.

The compound bow men's team, consisting of Abdullah Aslım, Kubilay Özdemir, and Emirhan Kısa, also finished in first place in their category.

Meanwhile, Defne Derebaşı and Emsal Zeynep Olgun secured second place in the classical bow women's team category.

The team received valuable technical support throughout the championship from their coach, Dr. Deniz Günay Derebaşı, whose contribution played an important role in their success.

Following the championship, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın remarked:

“These significant national-level achievements in sports demonstrate that our university possesses a strong vision not only in academics but also in athletics. I sincerely congratulate our students and their coach and wish them continued success.”

The champion athletes proudly returned to OMU with championship and runner-up cups and medals, marking a moment of honor and celebration for the university.
