In an effort to expand and enrich its 'international perspective' within its institutional culture and to advance its competitiveness in global higher education, Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has signed a cooperation protocol with the Urgench State Pedagogical Institute of Uzbekistan to implement mutual exchange programs.
OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, who was invited to speak at the conference titled "Current Issues in Strengthening the National Mentality of the Turkish Peoples" organized by the Urgench State Pedagogical Institute in Uzbekistan, a member of the Turkic Republics, and attended by officials from 15 universities from the Turkic world, was accompanied by Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunoğlu, Head of the OMU International Relations Unit.
The protocol ceremony was attended by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, Rector of Urgench State Pedagogical Institute Assoc. Prof. Dr. Medraximova Feruza Ruzimbayevna, Vice Rector in charge of Scientific Activities and Innovation Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diyorjon Abdullaev, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogy Dr. Elyor Nabiyev, and Head of International Relations Jaloladdin Sadullaev.
Speaking at the ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal emphasized the commendable approach that views education as a whole, integrating pedagogy with the entire educational process, and melding vocational skills and arts with national culture and historical values. He also expressed OMU's pleasure in supporting this work related to the future of the Turkic world.
Rector of Urgench State Pedagogical Institute Assoc. Prof. Dr. Medraximova Feruza Ruzimbayevna mentioned that their institute encompasses a process extending from preschool to higher education as one of the new educational initiatives by Uzbekistan.
Ruzimbayevna noted the significance of implementing a system that benefits individuals, families, and society alongside developing qualified labor in the field. She added that they value OMU's experience and expertise, hence their desire for mutual faculty and student exchanges.
The protocol ceremony concluded with the exchange of gifts and a commemorative photo session.
