Afghanistan's Ambassador to Ankara, Amir Mohammed Ramin, visited the Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal.
The visit to the Rector's office was accompanied by the Head of OMU International Relations Unit, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunoğlu, along with the Afghan Ambassador's Secretary-General, S.Mohd Arif Hussaini, and diplomats Khalilurahman Ziyai and Najiba Andeshmand.
The discussions primarily focused on higher education collaborations between Türkiye and Afghanistan, mobility of students and faculty members within exchange programs, social and cultural interactions, and suggestions and wishes regarding education and teaching.
Expressing his pleasure in hosting Ambassador Ramin in Samsun and at the University, Rector Ünal shared his thoughts and evaluations on the internationalization strategy and policies related to Afghanistan, as with other countries OMU is in relation with.
During the meeting, Ambassador Amir Mohammed highlighted the current relationship and shared heritage between the two countries, expressing a desire for more Afghan students to study at OMU and mentioning efforts to support this aim.
Ambassador Ramin, expressing his gratitude for the hospitality shown by Rector Ünal, wished the OMU family many successful years ahead.
The visit concluded with the presentation of gifts and a commemorative photo session.
