National taekwondo player Emre Kutalmış Ateşli, a student of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Yaşar Doğu Faculty of Sport Sciences, became a champion at the 31st World University Summer Games in China.
OMU's national athlete Emre Kutalmış Ateşli, who competed in the men's +87 kg category in the organization held in Chengdu, China, won the gold medal by defeating Taiwan's Jiun-jie Jung in the final.
Turkey won its first gold medal at the 31st World University Summer Games with OMU taekwondo athlete Ateşli.
In the World University Summer Games, which ended on 8 August, 108 athletes represented Turkey in 11 branches.
