Key Stakeholders Gather at OMU to Discuss Child Protection Strategies

The 2nd Provincial Child Services Coordination Meeting of 2025, organized by the Samsun Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, was hosted by Samsun Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU).

The meeting, held at the Senate Hall of OMU Rectorate Building, was chaired by Deputy Governor and Canik District Governor Şeref Aydın. It was attended by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer, Deputy Provincial Police Chief Ali Kovancı, Deputy Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Erkan Tetik, Judge of Samsun 1st Juvenile Court Hatice Eytemiş, Judge of Samsun 2nd Juvenile Court Ayşe Katipoğlu, Prosecutor Adem Küçük, Provincial Director of Family and Social Services Kemal Gümrükçü, Deputy Secretary General of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Necmi Çamaş, along with representatives from public institutions and non-governmental organizations.

The agenda included the evaluation of decisions taken at the previous meeting, data on care and counseling measures implemented by the Provincial Directorate of Family and Social Services, decisions related to educational measures implemented by the Provincial Directorate of National Education, and health measures implemented by the Provincial Directorate of Health. Discussions were also held on the planned activities for the Gümüşova Neighborhood in the Alaçam district, the progress of district coordination and sub-commission meetings, and the ongoing efforts under the action plan of the Project for the Development of Preventive Services.

Aiming to strengthen inter-institutional cooperation in the areas of child protection, education, and healthcare, the meeting concluded with the adoption of significant decisions.

Participants visited the OMU Developmental Education Practice and Research Center (OGEM) and the OMU Language and Speech Disorders Education Practice and Research Center after the meeting.
