Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has signed a cooperation protocol for the HEZARFEN Air Defense and Space Technologies Training Camp, a project conducted by Samsun İlkadım Aziz Atik Science High School with the approval of the Ministry of National Education.

At the signing ceremony held at the OMU Rectorate, the protocol was signed by OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz and Samsun İlkadım Aziz Atik Science High School Principal Murat Boztepe.

As part of the Hezarfen Project, OMU Continuous Education Center (OMÜSEM) has designed a Drone Design Training Certification Program, which will be implemented by OMU’s Faculty of Engineering. The program consists of 10 modules and 30 course hours.

Focus on Defense, Aviation, and Space Technologies

The project centers on defense, aviation, and space technologies. Its primary objective is to introduce top-performing students—many of whom aspire to study abroad—to Türkiye’s domestic and national technological capabilities and foster a sense of belonging.

Ministry of National Defense and Leading Defense Industry Companies to Participate

The second edition of the training camp, scheduled for May 12–19, 2025, will feature participation from the Ministry of National Defense (MSB), ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, HAVELSAN, the Turkish Space Agency (TUA), ROKETSAN, TÜBİTAK UZAY, Samsun Yurt Defense (CANİK), Ondokuz Mayıs University, Samsun University, and Türkiye’s first astronaut, Alper Gezeravcı.

66 Students from Across Türkiye to Attend

The training camp will be open to students interested in engineering. Participants will be selected from the top 50 official science high schools across Türkiye and science high schools in Samsun. This year, 66 students from 57 schools across 25 provinces will participate in the project. The project budget will cover all student travel, accommodation, and educational expenses.
