Student clubs affiliated with Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) are introducing social and cultural activities to newly enrolled students during the "Student Clubs Orientation Days."
Organized by the OMU Health, Culture, and Sports (SKS) Department at the Life Center in the Kurupelit Campus and district campuses, the "Student Clubs Orientation Days" started with experienced students from various clubs promoting their groups at booths, attracting new members to their respective communities.
During the orientation, which began on Monday, September 30, 2024, club members provided detailed information to new students about their objectives and activities in areas ranging from sports and health to theater and literature. The event attracted a lot of interest, offering OMU students an opportunity to socialize and enjoy the day with traditional dances such as “horon” and “halay”.
Students who join the clubs will have the chance to participate in activities that contribute to their personal, cultural, and professional development, as well as take on roles in future events and expand their social networks.
The "Student Clubs Orientation Days" will continue until October 11, 2024. Speaking about the event, SKS Department Head Güngör Kural emphasized the importance of these activities in fostering student development outside of academics. He stated that OMU offers a wide range of events through its 168 student clubs.
Kural noted that OMU’s student clubs engage in a wide array of activities and added, "Through club activities, our students gain social responsibility awareness and develop empathy and leadership skills. Participation in these activities also positively impacts their career goals. In other words, these events allow students to gain real experiences and achievements, which, in turn, help enhance their professional skills and provide important advantages when entering the business world."
