Under the scope of the project "Bu Gençlik İyi İş Çıkarabilir" (This Youth Can Do A Good Job), organized by Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), a meeting program with industry representatives was held.
The project, prepared under the "Labour Market Support Programme for Youth Not in Employment, Education or Training (NEET)", aims to employ 60 graduates from vocational high schools, vocational colleges, or relevant university departments in regional industrial establishments.
The project, developed through financial cooperation between Türkiye and the European Union, has a total budget of 333,053 euros. In collaboration with İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency), efforts will be made to increase the employment of those who complete the eighty-day training.
Participants will receive training under the titles "Computer-Aided Design and Manufacturing", "Industrial Automation and Maintenance", and "Renewable Energy", starting January 5.
Prof. Dr. Sevim Alışır, Vice Rector of OMÜ, in her opening speech of the program, stated that OMÜ set its greatest goal as serving the region in addition to R&D in higher education. Alışır said that the purpose of the "Bu Gençlik İyi İş Çıkarabilir" project is to train young people who have completed their education but have not yet started working anywhere, particularly in line with the expectations of factories.
Project Coordinator Dr. Cenk Gezegin, speaking to journalists after the meeting, stated that they prepared a project to address the need for intermediate staff in regional industrial establishments. After discussions with industry representatives, Gezegin outlined the areas where there was a greater need for intermediate staff, saying, "In this context, we identified three main branches. These are sectors related to the training of skilled personnel who are both current and trending. The first is renewable energy, the second is industrial automation, and the third is computer-aided design and manufacturing. This project aims to increase the employability of these young people, whose professional knowledge, skills, and experience have been enhanced."
Gezegin informed that the training will last eighty days and the project for a year, adding, "During the eighty days, participants will receive a daily allowance of 10 euros, and their insurance will be covered within the project scope. Our meeting aims to discuss the kind of support we can receive from private sector representatives in our region within the scope of our training. We aim to enhance university-industry collaboration and increase the employment-focused efforts of our project for these qualified individuals."
The program was attended by the Social Security Institution Provincial Director Ünal Kaya, İŞKUR Provincial Director Gökhan Dürümlü, KOSGEB Provincial Director Nebahat Livaoğlu, Industry and Technology Provincial Director Selahattin Altunsoy, Dean of OMU Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Yıldıray Topcu, Vice-Dean of OMU Faculty of Engineering Assoc.
