OMU student communities lead in social innovation with six ÜNİDES-supported projects

Six innovative and community-oriented projects prepared by student communities of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) have been selected for support under the University Student Communities Cooperation and Support Program (ÜNİDES) administered by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Directorate General of Youth Services.

The results of the fifth call of the program were announced following the application period held between 16 September and 15 October 2025, during which a total of 3,764 project proposals were submitted from 81 provinces across Türkiye. According to the results, OMU qualified for support with six successful projects.

This achievement once again demonstrates the university’s growing capacity for project development and its increasing academic productivity.

Projects awarded ÜNİDES support

The OMU student projects that earned support for their creativity, production-oriented work, and social responsibility focus are as follows:
“Digital empathy in social work” – Ethics and Social Work Community
“Technical visit to Samsun Model Factory and lean production training” – Process Community
“Solidarity from campuses to Palestine: Booth and mural project” – University Wise Youth Community
“Our route is TÜBİTAK!! – Genomu Community
“Panel on raising awareness among future teachers about child neglect and abuse” – Preschool Dreams Community
“Participatory democracy and youth dialogue in public institutions: Applied observation through ministry visits” – Political Science Community

Prepared through the joint efforts of students from different faculties, these projects stood out for their innovative approaches in areas such as digital empathy, production efficiency, social awareness, scientific research culture, child rights, and participatory democracy.

Congratulating all student communities whose projects were selected for support in the fifth ÜNİDES call, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın stated:
