OMU’s 50th Anniversary Festivities Kick Off with Emre Aydın’s Electrifying Performance

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) has launched its 50th anniversary celebrations with a series of lively events joined by students and staff.

The three-day festivities began with a concert by renowned Turkish pop singer and songwriter Emre Aydın, who took the stage as part of the opening celebrations.

Held at the OMU Life Center Square in a festive atmosphere, the first day of the celebrations started on Friday, May 9, at 4:00 PM with an OMU Modern Music Club performance. This was followed by the crowd-pleasing “Dance of Arena” show, which blended music and dance. The evening continued with dynamic sets by DJ Tolga As & DJ Uluç Ersun and MC Gökhan Dursun, building excitement ahead of the night’s main event—Emre Aydın.

Emre Aydın Delights the Audience

Drawing a large crowd, Emre Aydın delivered a memorable concert, performing his most beloved songs in unison with the audience. Combining emotional ballads with upbeat tracks, Aydın impressed attendees with his powerful voice and stage presence.

At the concert’s end, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın presented the artist with a bouquet and extended her thanks.

A Festival Spirit Spreads Across Campus

The 50th Anniversary Festival continues on May 10 and 11. On Saturday, May 10, the OMU Modern Music Club will again take the stage, followed by DJ performances and an energetic concert by the band “Roller Coaster” to close the evening.

The final day, Sunday, May 11, will begin with another performance by the Modern Music Club. This will be followed by the alternative music group “Bugünlük” and additional DJ sets. The festivities will conclude with a closing concert featuring “Erka Orkestra ft. Sinem and Emrah Sonel.”

Access Limited to University Cardholders

The events are open exclusively to holders of OMU student and staff ID cards and OMU Alumni Cards. Samsun University students and staff may also attend using their institutional ID cards.
