Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) kicked off the 2025–2026 Academic Year with “OMU Uyum Fest,” an orientation festival designed to ease new students' transition into university life and introduce them to campus culture.
The festival, organized to support the adjustment process for students who are just starting their university journey, took place across Kurupelit (Main), Bafra, Vezirköprü, Havza, Ladik, Çarşamba, and Fine Arts campuses. The program included academic briefings, campus tours, concerts, an orienteering competition (Campus Discovery Game), a reels contest, and various surprise events.
The opening ceremony of the event held at OMU Life Center was attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz, and Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sumer, Secretary General Prof. Dr. Erhan Burak Pancar, faculty members, and a large number of students.
The five-day festival began with a live music performance. Following the opening ceremony, the day was filled with activities such as an orienteering competition, theater performances, folk dance shows, concerts, and open mic sessions, all of which brought color and excitement to the event.
Throughout the festival, students had the opportunity to participate in campus tours, workshops, and student club activities, while engaging in self-exploration through special programs like "Me in the Future" and "A Note to Myself." Booths set up by various OMU departments, organizations, and associations also attracted considerable interest.
As part of the festival, students took part in competitions such as the Reels Contest, Kahoot Quiz, and Orienteering Competition, showcasing both their knowledge and skills. At the end of the day, the winners of each event were announced and awarded.
OMU Uyum Fest aimed to help new students adapt quickly to university life, build new friendships, and explore the wide range of opportunities offered by OMU. The full-day program ended with a closing ceremony accompanied by music, providing students with a festive and welcoming start to their academic journey. With OMU Uyum Fest, the university offered a vibrant celebration filled with sports, arts, culture, music, and friendship.
