Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Architecture celebrated the graduation of 115 successful students for the 2023-2024 academic year with a ceremony.

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Hakan Sağlam, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çetin, President of the Chamber of Architects Samsun Branch Burak Şener, heads of departments, lecturers and families of graduates attended the ceremony held at OMU Stage.

"Our Students Are Equipped for Their Future Careers"

In the opening speech at the ceremony held at OMU Stage, Dean Prof. Dr. Hakan Sağlam addressed the graduates: "Today marks the end of a four-year journey. We know that our students have gained the necessary skills for their future careers. Although we are a young faculty, our departments have quickly started to show their success. The contributions of our professors, students, and, of course, parents cannot be overlooked. As you know, the unfortunate events of the past three years have greatly impacted our education. We managed to navigate this period with minimal damage. As you embark on your career journey, it is your responsibility to take your knowledge further. I congratulate you once again, believing that you will continue to succeed in your future endeavors."

"The Education You Received Here Will Light Your Path in Your Professional Life"

Burak Şener, President of the Samsun Branch of the Chamber of Architects, also addressed the graduates: "Today is an exhilarating day for our graduating friends. Throughout your student life, you experienced a preview of this profession. The real journey begins now. But you are very fortunate because your professors here and the education you received will guide you in your professional life. Architectural education has a unique discipline that is not found in many other fields. I advise you to prioritize this discipline in your life. I wish you continued success."

"I Am Proud to Be Part of This Family"

Representing the graduates, Selimcan Yavaş shared his thoughts: "As someone who has a deep interest and dream in architecture, I believe the main reason I am speaking at this podium today is that I have identified architecture with my own identity, and I owe this to the OMU Architecture family. I feel lucky to have worked with professors who have different perspectives, are experienced in their fields, and communicate effectively with us. Thanks to the practical and theoretical courses that prepared us for life, I have been part of a visionary educational approach that is modern, inspiring, questioning, prompting questions, producing, and leading to logical solutions. I am proud to be part of this family."

After the speeches, the ceremony concluded with the awarding success certificates to the graduates by the faculty members and the traditional cap toss.
