In tribute to the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye, Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Fine Arts organized the “Pride 101” group exhibition, attracting art enthusiasts and members of the university community. Attendees included OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, Commercial Court Chief Justice Mehmet Ali Aykun, faculty members, students, and a large number of art lovers, all gathering to honor the profound respect for Turkish art and the values of the Republic.
Hosted at the OMU Faculty of Fine Arts, the exhibition showcases unique works from a variety of disciplines, including sculpture, ceramics, and glass. These pieces blend traditional arts with modern techniques, embodying contemporary aesthetics.
At the exhibition’s opening, OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten thanked the faculty and students for their contributions. Emphasizing the importance of scientific advancement for the Republic’s future, Kesten remarked, “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk highlighted the importance of art nearly 91 years ago in his Tenth Anniversary Speech. We are committed to doing everything we can to preserve our Republic for eternity.”
Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Prof. Dr. Ali Seylan, referred to Atatürk’s words, “A distinguishing feature of the Turkish nation is a love for fine arts and striving to elevate it.” Seylan commented, “It is our duty to uphold the gains of the Republic and the modern vision of art that Atatürk envisioned. With exhibitions like this held annually, we commemorate and keep alive the values of our Republic. Through this year’s 'Pride 101,' we aim to reflect the light of the Republic into society through art.”
The exhibition, open until November 13, is a cultural event that celebrates the Republic's spirit through art, showcasing Türkiye’s dedication to art and its vision for the future.
