A cooperation agreement was signed between Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and the Turkish Space Agency (TUA) to support national and regional development.
The signed agreement aims to collaborate on aviation and space technologies using the infrastructure and expertise of both parties within the framework of the National Space Program.
At the ceremony held at TUA, the protocol was signed by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal and Turkish Space Agency President Yusuf Kıraç.
The cooperation between OMU and TUA, which will foster dialogue and trust, aims to utilize OMU's knowledge base to contribute to TUA's new technology and process development phases, resulting in enhanced quality and efficiency. The parties will work together on R&D projects, including developing new products, improving existing products, enhancing product quality or standards, or developing cost-reducing new techniques and production technologies.
The agreement will also see OMU and TUA collaborate on organizing events and initiatives that promote the culture of R&D. Additionally, OMU and TUA will work together to benefit from national and international support to strengthen Türkiye's R&D capabilities and promote university-industry collaboration in R&D projects.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal stated, "This cooperation between OMU and TUA will be the beginning. It will pave the way for much more qualitative work that will benefit both our country and humanity. As a university, we genuinely value this cooperation and project, especially in terms of adding vision and directing our current human resources toward quality work. TUA is the pride of Türkiye, and in the future, we will be hearing much more about its accomplishments. I thank all my colleagues who contributed."
Turkish Space Agency President Yusuf Kıraç also emphasized the importance of the agreement, stating, "This protocol agreement between Ondokuz Mayıs University and the Turkish Space Agency will be the start of many local and international projects. Therefore, I thank our University and Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal."
