Organized annually by Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, the VI. The Clinical Nurse Counsellor Training Program was organized with broad participation.
Nurses working in clinics showed great interest in the program, which was coordinated by Faculty Member of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Özen Kulakaç, where Faculty Member Dr. Alaattin Altın and Research Assistant Ahsen Taştan took part in the organizing committee.
Forty nurses working at OMU Health Application and Research Center, Samsun Training and Research Hospital, Samsun Gazi State Hospital, Samsun Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Diseases Hospital, Ayvacık, Bafra, Çarşamba and Suluova State Hospitals, Ordu State Hospital, and Private Medicana Hospital participated in the Training Program.
On the first day of the training, Program Coordinator Prof. Dr. Özen Kulakaç and Head of Nursing Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Şenay Arlı made opening speeches. Afterward, the program continued with Dr. Kulakaç's presentations on "Clinical Counselling in Nursing Education, Definition, Features, Roles and Responsibilities of the Counsellor" and "The Importance of Nursing Counselling for Student Nurses in the Framework of Patricia Benner's Nursing Theory from Novice to Expert." Later, Nursing Faculty Member Dr. Seval Ağaçdiken Alkan's presentation on "Different Learning Styles and Their Effect on Clinical Learning Experience," Dr. Serap Güleç's "Effective Feedback in Practice," Dr. Ruveyde Aydın's "Creating a Positive Learning Environment and the Role of a Clinical Nurse Counsellor" took place. The first day of the program ended with Dr. Figen Çavuşoğlu's presentation on "Reflecting as a Clinical Growth and Development Tool."
On the second day of the training, "Evaluation of the Practice; Monitoring Development in Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes, Continuous Evaluation of Success" by Dr. Şenay Arlı, "Teamwork, Leadership and Clinical Teaching" by Dr. Nihal Ünaldı Baydın, "Clinical Practice Goals, Records and Documents of the Department" by Dr. Esra Tural Büyük, "Planning the Process of Helping The Students Transfer Their Knowledge into Practice" by Dr. Özge İşeri, "Documentation of Evaluation, Challenges, and Suggestions for Solutions" by Dr. Alaattin Altın, and "Communication and Student Support Strategies in Guidance Listening, Trust and Relationship Development" by Dr. Oya Sevcan Orak's were presented.
The nurses who participated in the training said that they were satisfied with the training, that such training programs contributed to their academic knowledge after graduation, and that nurses working in the clinics working together with their colleagues in the academy made significant contributions to the development of the nursing profession.
Participants who completed the Clinical Nurse Counsellor Training Program were given the "Clinical Nurse Counsellor" certificate of participation, valid for five years.
