Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) student Berat Acar became the World Champion in the +92 kilo boxing category in the FISU University World Cup Combat Sports, hosted by Ondokuz Mayıs University of Samsun.
FISU University World Cup Combat Sports, attended by 50 countries, 430 universities, and 760 athletes, was held in Sambo, Wushu, Boxing, Karate, Muay Thai, and Wrestling categories. After OMU student Serdem Daharlı became the Sambo category champion, Berat Acar became the second champion of OMU in the Boxing category.
OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cengiz Batuk, who followed the final fight of the Boxing competitions held at OMÜ Yalçın Taşmektepligil Sports Hall, congratulated Berat Acar after the match. Stating that they are happy and proud of Berat Acar's success, Batuk said, "It is a success for our university that our student is a champion. This championship that Berat won made us and the teachers who raised him proud. I congratulate him and his teachers again and thank them for making us feel this pride."
Champion Berat Acar said, "I am thrilled and proud. I would like to thank my family, professors, and the University administration for their support. I would also like to thank the audience who came to support me."
After the congratulations, the Turkish University Sports Federation presented Berat Acar with the gloves he used in the final match.
