President of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, who came to Samsun to attend TEKNOFEST BLACK SEA and to make various contacts, visited Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal.

President Özvar was then hosted in Samsun Governorship as the guest of Samsun Governor Zülki Dağlı. YÖK Member Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Karaman, OMU Rector Ünal, Samsun University Rector Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın, and Onsekiz Mart University Rector Prof. Dr. Sedat Murat accompanied the visit.

Then, President Özvar and the rectors of TEKNOFEST BLACK SEA partner universities visited the Kızılırmak Delta Bird Sanctuary, which is on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Tentative List. Rector Yavuz Ünal and Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Cengiz Batuk, Prof. Dr.Selim Eren, Prof. Dr. Sevim Alışır and Prof. Dr.Mahmut Başoğlu hosted the guests during the trip organized by OMU.

President Özvar made investigations in the Kızılırmak Delta, which is home to hundreds of bird species, and received information from Lecturer Arif Cemal Özsemir, who works at OMU Bafra Vocational High School, about the ringing studies and released a bird to the nature after its ringing work was completed.

Özvar's visit to Bird Sanctuary was attended by the leading figures of the Turkish academy, as well as the Rector of Somalia Benadir University Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mohamoud Hassan.
