Commemorative ceremonies were held in Samsun to mark the 110th anniversary of the Çanakkale Naval Victory and March 18 Martyrs’ Remembrance Day. The program began with an official ceremony at Kıranköy Martyrs’ Cemetery, where floral tributes were laid, followed by a moment of silence, a ceremonial gun salute, and the singing of the Turkish National Anthem.
Representing Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) at the event was Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, who attended the Commemoration Ceremony held at Atatürk Cultural Center Grand Hall. During the ceremony, the heroes and martyrs of Çanakkale were honored through speeches and poetry readings.
The program continued with a theatrical performance titled "Heroes of Victory" and a play called "Final Roll Call" by Canik 15 July Ömer Halisdemir Anatolian Imam Hatip High School students. Students from İlkadım Fine Arts High School’s Music Department also performed a selection of Çanakkale folk songs.
The ceremonies concluded with Qur’an recitations and prayers in remembrance of the martyrs. The program was attended by Samsun Governor Orhan Tavlı, Garrison Commander Veteran Major General Davut Alâ, families of martyrs, representatives of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), protocol members, and local citizens.
