During his visit to Samsun, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ersin Tatar, delivered a conference titled "The Importance of TRNC in the Turkic World" at the invitation of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU). Following the conference, President Tatar accepted the honorary doctorate awarded by OMU and then visited Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın in her office.

In the meeting held at the Rectorate, President Ersin Tatar received information from Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın on the university’s ongoing projects and future goals. Rector Aydın expressed her gratitude to President Tatar for his visit. President Tatar commended the university’s efforts and extended his thanks to Rector Aydın and all academic and administrative staff.

Governor Orhan Tavlı, Mayor of Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Halit Doğan, Rector of Samsun University Prof. Dr. Mahmut Aydın, and TRNC Consul in Trabzon Erek Çağatay were also present at the meeting.

A Special Message in OMU’s Guestbook from President Tatar

At the end of the visit, which included an exchange of gifts and a commemorative photo, President Ersin Tatar signed the OMU Guestbook, leaving the following message: “It has been a great honor for me to give a conference at Ondokuz Mayıs University and to receive an honorary doctorate. I wish you continued success and hope for the strengthening of relations between the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Türkiye.”
