Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) State Conservatory proudly celebrated the graduation of its successful students for the 2023-2024 academic year. A total of 21 students from the Music Department and the Traditional Turkish Music Department experienced the joy of graduation.

Prof. Dr. Can Karahan: "Let's Pass on the Art to the Next Generation"

The graduation ceremony began with a moment of silence and the Turkish National Anthem. In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Can Karahan from the Turkish Music Department emphasized the challenges and triumphs of the graduating students: "Approximately one and a half years of the five-year education process were conducted online. This had partial negative impacts, especially on courses that required practical application. However, this graduation ceremony is not a sign of failure but a testament to overcoming these challenges. It symbolizes the transition threshold, reflecting the dedication and sensitivity shown by teachers and students. In this regard, 'actions speak louder than words,' so let us pass on the art of music to those we have endeavored to mentor."

"We Will Pass on the Essence of Turkish Music to Future Generations"

The top graduate of the Music Department, Baturay Mutlu, expressed his gratitude and vision: "Every farewell is a door to new, hopeful beginnings. Thanks to the quality education and countless opportunities provided by OMU State Conservatory, I firmly believe we will progress confidently in the light of Atatürk's principles and reforms. We will pass on the essence of Turkish music to future generations, staying true to its origins. The music culture we have gained through our esteemed educators will contribute to the unifying effect on our national identity. Our successes will be the successes of our country. To know where we are heading in life, we must know where we are going. With the guidance of the education we received from our university, we will set and achieve our goals."

Celebrating Achievements and Looking to the Future

Following the speeches, the top three graduates from the Music Department, Baturay Mutlu, Emine Enzel Ocaklı, and Ayşenur Kabataş, were awarded gifts and certificates of achievement by the attending dignitaries.

The event continued with a graduation ceremony at OMU Stage, where participants joined in celebrating the students' joyous moments. The ceremony concluded with a delightful musical performance by the graduates, which received much applause and the traditional cap toss to mark their graduation.
