Students from the Havza Vocational School and Ladik Vocational School, affiliated with Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), organized a technical visit to the Havza Organized Industrial Zone (OSB).
During their visit to Havza OSB, the students inspected an under-construction facility that will produce hemp, hemp fiber, yarn, and textile products. They received information from Erkan Acar, the President of Havza Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TSO), and Eyüp Can Kaplakarslan, a company representative.
Erkan Acar, the President of Havza TSO, emphasized the significant contributions of OSBs to Turkey's economic development, stating, "Havza Organized Industrial Zone is strategically located on the transportation route connecting Central Anatolia to the Black Sea. With its attractive logistic opportunities, Havza OSB has been growing rapidly and continues to expand. Our aim at Havza OSB is to bring together industrialists and academicians, thereby maximizing our contribution to the national economy and employment."
Eyüp Can Kaplakarslan discussed the ongoing establishment of the facility and research and development activities on hemp and hemp products. "In this facility, which will produce from seed to final product, we are conducting research on products like raw and dyed fiber, dyed and raw yarn, kıtık, 100% natural cat litter, as well as animal bedding. We plan to start full-capacity operations in January 2024 and employ 600 people," he stated.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ercan Tural, the Director of Havza Vocational School, expressed the importance of such technical visits, remarking, "We visited Havza OSB with our students and faculty members from Havza and Ladik Vocational Schools. These visits are crucial in broadening our students' horizons, introducing them to the working world, and aiding their personal development. As Havza Vocational School, we aim to strengthen our good relations with Havza OSB, contributing to our region and country."
During the visit, the students and teaching staff toured the facility and inquired about various aspects of its operations.
The visit was also attended by Prof. Dr. Ünal Kılıç, Director of Ladik Vocational School, along with students and faculty members from both Havza and Ladik Vocational Schools.
