Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Prof. Dr.Yavuz Ünal hosted Rector of Somalia Benadir University Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Hassan Biday in his office.

During the visit, accompanied by Head of OMU International Relations Office Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunoğlu, the guest Rector Hassan expressed his gratitude to Rector Ünal for his support and kindness during the intensifying cooperation process between the two universities.

The agenda of the meeting was thematic collaborations, joint research projects, social and cultural activities, applied disciplines, etc., under the partnership of OMU and Benadir University. Benadir University Rector Hassan noted that Turkey's ties with Somalia started in the past and have become stronger in recent years.

Rector Hassan pointed out that OMU offers an attractive and wide range of educational opportunities and programs to international students, which enables a steady increase in international student numbers and recognition in the international arena.

Rector Ünal also thanked his guest for his kind visit and interest in OMU, noting that Turkey has deepened its interaction with Africa through academic and cultural communication in recent years and that education has come to the fore as a rising star. Pointing out that Turkey's image in Africa is positive, Rector Unal underlined that this perception stems from the education, culture, and people-oriented strategy and diplomacy carried out in the continent and stated that as OMU, they aim to expand their cooperation network with African countries.

During the visit, Dr. Hassan and Dr. Kurşunoğlu shared their impressions of TEKNOFEST, the world's biggest space, aviation, and technology fair.

The visit was concluded with the presentation of gifts and good wishes.
