We, the Ondokuz Mayıs University Senate, reject and condemn the President of the United States Joe Biden’s interpretation of the events that occurred in 1915 in the Ottoman-era as a so-called “genocide.”

Such a “null and void” statement incompatible with historical facts, which distorts history for the sake of political opportunism, will only disgrace those who utter it. It is evident that this decision that aims to bring the Turkish Nation, the epitome of modesty and compassion throughout history, under suspicion will not serve regional peace and stability.

The efforts to falsify history with lies by those who cannot respond to the tenaciously repeated proposals of the Turkish Republic to form a neutral Joint History Committee to search and reveal the historical truths will never come to fruition.

We, as the Ondokuz Mayıs University Senate, reject and condemn the President of the United States Joe Biden’s “null and void” so-called “genocide” statement, which is void of scientific evidence and references demanded by international law, and only represents the libelous accusations of the circles hostile to Turkey.
