Samsun Technology Development Zone (Samsun Technopark) contributes to regional development through its R&D- and innovation-focused activities by bringing together industry, universities, and technology entrepreneurs.

Operating with a multi-sectoral R&D and innovation ecosystem, the Technopark strengthens Türkiye’s innovation capacity through projects carried out in fields such as health, software, biotechnology, energy, and the defense industry.

Companies develop high value-added projects through R&D infrastructure and public support

Companies operating within the Technopark develop high value-added projects thanks to robust R&D infrastructure and public support mechanisms. In the field of health technologies, Adapha Artificial Intelligence R&D and Software is working on AI-supported applications aimed at the early detection of neurodevelopmental disorders in newborns.

Etka Biotechnology, on the other hand, is developing innovative solutions for food technologies by investigating the potential of Anoxybacillus species enzymes for use in the flour-based food industry through TÜBİTAK-supported projects.

In the field of energy and environmental technologies, Samsun Avdan Energy is conducting R&D projects focused on the utilization of domestic wastewater treatment sludge through thermophilic dry fermentation, while in the software sector, Tekşen Bilişim has entered international markets by exporting its vehicle rental software to Germany.

These efforts demonstrate that Samsun Technopark is a dynamic R&D and innovation center capable of carrying locally developed technological solutions to global markets.

Ondokuz Mayıs University’s strong academic infrastructure and knowledge base

A key factor behind this success is the strong academic infrastructure and knowledge base of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), one of the main stakeholders of Samsun Technopark. The scientific research conducted by OMU in the fields of health, engineering, natural sciences, and agriculture, the contributions of academics to R&D processes, and the university–industry collaboration-oriented approach play a significant role in enabling companies within the Technopark to develop innovative projects. This structure, which facilitates the commercialization of university-generated knowledge, strengthens the goal of transforming Samsun into a regional technology and innovation hub.
