The orientation program for first-year students who enrolled in the departments and programs of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) for the 2024-2025 academic year successfully concluded.

The event, held at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center, was attended by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, academic staff, administrative personnel, and students.

"The orientation program is the first and concrete indicator of our goal"

OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın emphasized that the students had made well-informed decisions and that the university would do everything possible to ensure they are trained in the best possible way. "The orientation program we are holding is our first concrete indicator of our goal. During the program, you will learn about the opportunities and services that our university and the city of Samsun offer throughout your academic journey. Additionally, our team will provide you with necessary information about the regulations, procedures, and practices you may need during this process," she said.

"If you have any questions, be sure to ask and get an answer"

Rector Aydın encouraged students to pay close attention to the briefings in order to have a successful academic experience. "If you have any questions, be sure to ask and get an answer. This orientation program has been designed so that you do not feel unfamiliar and do not face any difficulties regarding your tasks and processes. Moreover, if you encounter any issues during your education, you can contact us for help through a WhatsApp line, which will be announced on our website later today. You can be sure that your requests will be considered. Please make sure to follow the procedures, announcements, and tasks that need to be completed during your student life to avoid any issues or setbacks," she added.

"I wish you to graduate with good memories and in good health"

Rector Aydın also highlighted the rights, opportunities, and services available to students at the university: "You have the right to pursue a double major and earn two diplomas, as well as the option to take proficiency exams for up to two courses each year. You also have the opportunity to contribute to projects and articles, and by participating in artistic and cultural events, you can earn exemptions from certain courses. As a university student, don’t forget your responsibilities toward yourself, your family, and your nation. Your diligence in these matters will ensure that you graduate from Ondokuz Mayıs University well-prepared and as a highly qualified graduate in your field. Dear young people, who are our country's future and our nation's hope! I welcome you again to the Ondokuz Mayıs University family and wish you to graduate in good health and with wonderful memories, well-prepared for life."

At the end of the program, Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın joined students in visiting the various stands set up for them.
