The Samsun Career Education Program (SAKEP), designed by the Samsun Provincial Directorate of National Education to support the career development of high school students, has been launched for the 2024-2025 academic year.
The program aims to better prepare students for academic and professional life through a variety of educational activities and events.
SAKEP is being implemented with a broad network of collaborators. Key supporters of the project include Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU), Samsun University (SAMU), the Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR), and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (KOSGEB).
As a significant partner in the project, OMU will host students weekly throughout the year. As part of the program, promotional films about OMU faculties, the OMU Technology Transfer Office (TTO), the Psychology Application and Research Center (PUAMER), and the Continuous Education Center (SEM) were shown at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center. Students were provided with detailed information about the university's research and development activities, educational opportunities, and social facilities.
SAKEP targets all 10th, 11th, and 12th-grade students in public and private high schools across Samsun. The program’s primary goal is to enhance the vocational and personal development of high school graduates, preparing individuals well-suited for work and academic life. Additionally, the program aims to contribute to high school career counseling efforts by offering educational opportunities aligned with the labor market's needs.
Various courses and activities tailored to high school students are scheduled as part of the project. The initiative began in September 2024 and will conclude in July 2025. At the program's end, students will receive certificates for their completed training, along with their year-end report cards.
Dr. Murat Ağar, Director of the Samsun Provincial Directorate of National Education, emphasized that the project is an important step in supporting students' personal and professional development. The project aims to help Samsun’s youth become better equipped for the future.
