Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Education celebrated the graduation of 692 aspiring young teachers for the 2023-2024 academic year in an exciting ceremony.

The ceremony, held at the Life Center, was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Hamza Çalışıcı, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yaman, Provincial Director of National Education Dr. Murat Ağar, faculty deans, academic staff, and the graduates' families.

In his speech at the graduation ceremony, Dean Prof. Dr. Hamza Çalışıcı expressed his gratitude to the parents and families for their sacrifices and dedication in supporting their children up to this point: "I extend my heartfelt thanks to the esteemed parents and family members for the dedication and sacrifices you have shown in bringing your children to this day. I also express my gratitude to our professors for their contributions to your professional development over the past four years. Our faculty, which traces its roots back to 1961 and has been serving as a Faculty of Education since 1982, is proud to graduate our 42nd class from 16 different programs. This pride belongs not only to us academics but also to the families who have brought their children to this day. You have successfully completed one of the most critical milestones in your educational journey. As educators, you now have much to contribute with the awareness of your responsibilities towards yourself, your family, and our country. You are now teachers who embody the saying, 'He who teaches me a letter makes me his servant for forty years.' We know that you will not forget us. Every success you achieve in your professional life and every contribution to education will elevate Ondokuz Mayıs University and honor us."

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Baran Çelik from the Turkish Language Teaching Department expressed his joy and pride: "Esteemed parents from all over Türkiye, there is no doubt that your joy at this ceremony is indescribable. You are the rightful owners of this happiness. Seeing that your efforts have not been in vain brings you joy and pride, and seeing you happy brings us indescribable joy. I am delighted to share the privilege and joy of being a graduate of the OMU Faculty of Education. We have reached the end of our long educational journey. We are all leaving here with a profession. With the awareness of our responsibilities, I promise on behalf of all the guests here today, before history and our nation, that we will never dishonor the dignity of teaching and will always carry the star and crescent flag with pride."

The graduation ceremony continued with the presentation of success certificates and awards to the top students, followed by the presentation of certificates to the other young teacher candidates by the academic staff. The Education Faculty graduates then took the teacher's oath to express their commitment to the profession and celebrated by tossing their caps into the air.
