This week’s guest of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Fine Arts (GSF) Wednesday Conferences was film director and screenwriter Bilal Babaoğlu. GSF instructors and students have attended the event entitled “Senaryodan Beyaz Perdeye Bir Filmin Öyküsü: Aşık” (The Story of a Movie from Script to the Silver Screen: Aşık).
Babaoğlu’s movie Aşık, which came to theatres in January, attracted great attention as a movie that treats the philosophy of love and fictionalizes an important section of our famous bard Aşık Veysel. Babaoğlu, who is also a native of Samsun’s Havza district, expressed his appreciation in the interactive interview held with the GSF students and emphasized that he was impressed with the students’ enthusiastic questions regarding the anatomy of cinema and their perspective regarding cinema and TV series industries.
Stating that he has plans for shooting a film or TV series in Samsun, Babaoğlu told that, in addition to academic collaboration, he would be very happy to actualize a production important and featured for Samsun with the help of Samsun’s people.
At the conclusion of the event, GSF Dean Prof. Metin Eker and faculty member Prof. Memduh Erkin have presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Bilal Babaoğlu.
