From Campus to Industry: OMU Deepens R&D Collaboration with Silverline

Joint Goals Set for EU Projects through University–Industry Cooperation

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) visited Silverline Ankastre Inc. to strengthen university–industry collaboration and explore joint opportunities within European Union projects.

The visit, hosted by Silverline Board Member Hüseyin Alış, included participation from OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz, Rector’s Advisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Begüm Korunur Engiz, OMU Technology Transfer Office (TTO) General Manager Sinan Tosun, TTO Board Members Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Çalışkan and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gediz Uğuz, Engineering Faculty members Prof. Dr. Birol Elevli, Prof. Dr. Sermin Elevli, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cenk Gezegin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cengiz Tepe, and Dr. Selim Aras, Assistant R&D Coordinator Dr. Onur Yontar, and Project Unit Coordinator Lecturer Yaman Şeker.

Industry and Academia Meet on a Common Project Platform

During the visit, Silverline Automation Process Manager Engin Talaş delivered a presentation on the company’s national and international R&D activities. Company representatives, who shared their experience in European Union projects, also expressed their openness to future collaborations with OMU.

The meeting featured the presentation of the AI-PRISM project, which aims to develop human-centered and AI-supported robotic solutions in smart manufacturing processes. A live demonstration of the robotic system developed under the project was also carried out.

Strategic Collaboration for Regional Innovation

It was emphasized that the visit marked a significant step in establishing joint R&D activities, EU project partnerships, and knowledge sharing between OMU and Silverline. OMU continues its determined efforts to enhance regional innovation capacity and reinforce sustainable university–industry collaborations.
