The Tanyeli (Zephyr) Rocket Team, founded by the students of Ondokuz Mayıs University Faculty of Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering excelled at the TEKNOFEST 2020 Aviation, Space and Technology Festival in the rocket competition which is one of the 21 different categories of technology.

University students participated in the competition held in Tuz Lake on September 1 - 13 with the support of the Turkish Technology Team Foundation and the Ministry of Industry and Technology. Tanyeli Rocket Team under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çetin Kurnaz successfully completed all the required tasks in the low altitude category with the rocket they designed.

The winners of TEKNOFEST 2020, in which the rocket was launched by the President of TUBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, will be announced at a ceremony to be held at Gaziantep Middle East Exhibition Center on 24-27 September. Organizations such as Roketsan and TUBITAK Sage also supported the competition.
