Project entitled “Your Counselor is Next to You – Providing Sexual Health Counseling (CİSDASAP)”, prepared by the Pembe Yaka Öğrenci Topluluğu (Pink Collar Student Society) established and operating within the body of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Research Centre for Women’s Studies (OKTAM), has been accepted by the “December 1 Youth Fund” of Turkish Family Planning Foundation (TAPV).
The project supervisor is Director of OKTAM Prof. Dr. İlknur Aydın Avcı and the project team consists of Research Assistant Özge Öz Yıldırım, Research Assistant Dilek Çelik Eren, and Research Assistant Mehmet Korkmaz. Within the scope of the project, a counseling room will be established within the Samsun Muhsin Yazıcıoğlu Culture Centre.
In the counseling room, together with the volunteer students from OMU Faculty of Health Sciences Department of Nursing and Midwifery wishing to participate in the project, health counselling will be given to Romani teenagers on various topics such as the effects of early marriage on women’s and children’s health, sexually transmitted diseases, safe sex behaviors, and access to sexual health services. The counseling service will be provided for 3 weeks during the weekdays from 10:00 to 17:00, until December 30.
