The New Graduates of the Faculty of Health Sciences are Ready to Serve the Community

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Health Sciences celebrated the graduation of its 10th cohort of students for the 2023-2024 academic year.

At the graduation ceremony, 505 students from the Departments of Nutrition and Dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy, Midwifery, Nursing, Audiology, Orthotics and Prosthetics, Health Management, and Social Work took their professional oaths and celebrated graduation.

The ceremony began with a moment of silence in memory of the Republic's founder, Ghazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and the martyrs, followed by the Turkish National Anthem. The event was attended by Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Murat Terzi, Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Afitap Özdelikara and Dr. Yasemin Ertaş Öztürk, faculty members, administrative staff, and the families of the graduates.

In his speech, Vice Rector and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Dr. Murat Terzi said, “Today, we have graduates from eight departments, covering all areas of health from Nutrition and Dietetics to Audiology, from Orthotics and Prosthetics to Nursing, from Social Work to Health Management, and from Speech and Language Therapy to other fields. This number will increase to nine or ten departments in the coming years. We are very proud as the Faculty of Health Sciences, which serves a wide area. As a graduate of Ondokuz Mayıs University myself, I always proudly carry this title and this identity, showing the pride of graduating from OMU on every platform. I believe that you, too, as the class of 2024, will feel the joy and the benefits of graduating from OMU more deeply in the future.”

Expressing her emotions and thoughts in the opening speech of the ceremony, Faculty valedictorian and Speech and Language Therapy graduate Amine Ferda Doğan said, “Today, on this exciting day, I would like to take a moment to thank a few people. First and foremost, I want to thank our esteemed professors who did everything for us in our academic journey and helped us develop. I also want to thank my dear friends who calmed me during stressful moments and left beautiful memories in my life. But today, with your permission, I want to thank my precious family the most. I dedicate this first place to my family, who continuously sacrificed to support my education and always were there for me. I hope we can all be beneficial to our country and nation in our future lives by following the path of science and ethics, guided by our conscience.”

Following the speeches, Faculty valedictorian Amine Ferda Doğan placed the first-place nail on the graduation plaque, and those who graduated with honors received their certificates. Faculty valedictorian Amine Ferda Doğan, salutatorian Tuba Deniz Demirer, and third place Ayşe Karahan were awarded their certificates and prizes by the protocol members. Other graduates received their certificates from their department heads and faculty members.

At the end of the ceremony, the young health professionals took their professional oaths under the guidance of their professors and enjoyed their graduation by tossing their caps in the air.
