Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Dentistry's 123 students who succeeded in the 2022-2023 academic year graduated proudly at the 26th graduation ceremony.
Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Sevim Alışır, Prof. Dr. Murat Terzi, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Özkan, Vice Deans Prof. Dr. Emine Şen Tunç, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Cihan Bereket, President of Samsun Chamber of Dentists Özgü Tunçdemir Eyüpoğlu, academicians, graduating students and their families attended the graduation ceremony held in OMU Faculty of Dentistry Garden.
Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Murat Terzi made a speech at the ceremony, which started with a moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem and said, "The Faculty of Dentistry acts with a vision that has achieved quality education standards on national and international platforms, has completed its accreditation, and always offers up-to-date knowledge and science to its students. Dear students, you are graduating from an accredited university and will always feel this. I would like to thank our professors. Your professors have taught you how to be theoretically and practically equipped, welcome the patient, and treat and diagnose. As an academician graduating from OMU, I share your pride, excitement, and happiness."
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Özkan, said, "I wholeheartedly believe that our graduates will make important contributions to protecting individual, family, and community health with their professional work throughout their lives. Our students have successfully completed a challenging five-year education process. As dentists who are responsible for yourself, your family, your country, and the world, you will take important roles in our health army. I am sure you will be patient, tolerant, and compassionate while using your scientific knowledge and skills. Your success will glorify Ondokuz Mayıs University and honor us."
Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. Dr. Nilüfer Özkan, concluded her speech as follows:
"Let only the light of reason, conscience, and science illuminate your path from now on. Honest, hardworking, and productive people are a value. When you create value, success will follow. Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk said, "The one who loves my homeland the most is the one who does his duty the best." I wish you health, peace, happiness, and success in your future life. Never underestimate your power to create positive change for society and the world, pursue your goals with patience and perseverance, and never give up. May you have good luck, good fortune, and a clear path."
Samsun Chamber of Dentists President Özgü Tunçdemir Eyüpoğlu said, "As Samsun Chamber of Dentists, we always stand by our colleagues. Our door is always open to our students. We would like to be with them when they start their professional life, find solutions to their problems and share their joy. I would like to thank your family and teachers, may your path be clear."
Speaking on behalf of the graduating students, Zeynep Uçan, the valedictorian of the Faculty, said, "Today, we are proudly celebrating our graduation after a long educational journey. My achievements throughout my education have enabled me to finish the Faculty of Dentistry with first place. In this process, we have all worked hard, developed our knowledge and skills selflessly, and had good and bad experiences. We have made a lot of effort to overcome difficulties. We have come this far with our self-confidence. The issues we have experienced have taught us to achieve success with team spirit. I would like to underline that all these situations have made us stronger and more resilient physicians."
Following the professional oath, students who successfully graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry were presented with gifts and certificates of achievement.
The graduation ceremony ended with the students throwing their caps in the air.
