A research and development (R&D) focused cooperation meeting was held between Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and Samsun-based FKK Group (Güney Auto Tire Scotch Industry and Trade Inc.).
During the meeting at the rectorate office, Rector Prof Dr Yavuz Ünal hosted FKK Group Chairman of the Board of Directors Ufuk Altuncu and the company official accompanying him.
Vice Rector Prof Dr Sevim Alışır, Samsun Teknopark General Manager Ekrem Altan, Samsun Technopark University-Industry Cooperation (UIC) Specialist Yaman Şeker and the Head of the UIC and Commercialization Unit Res. Asst. İsmail Çetin also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, topics such as possible projects to be developed jointly by FKK Group Samsun and Technopark, which operates within the University, and OMU Technology Transfer Office (TTO), scheduling future partnerships, attaining innovative products in the charge of the Engineering Faculty Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Department, and similar topics were discussed.
Rector Unal pointed out that they make a special effort to raise the bar even higher in university-industry cooperation and to get concrete results from this ecosystem, and expressed that they are always open to the demands, suggestions and proposals of the business world thanks to the knowledge, potential and human resources of OMU.
Emphasizing the importance of correctly establishing the university-industry cooperation on-site, Rector Unal added that OMU aims to bring this mechanism to an institutional and functional structure with scientific and technological data and outputs.
FKK Group Chairman of the Board of Directors Ufuk Altuncu stated that they consider the interest, support and entrepreneurship of OMU essential and said that they believe they will take a step forward in the issues discussed.
