Rector Ünal Visited The Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies

Rector of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal visited the Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent within the scope of his visits to Central Asia.

Rector Ünal received information about the Institute

Rector Ünal, who is touring Uzbekistan within the scope of academic and international cooperation, visited the Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent, which has the most important manuscripts of the Turkish-Islamic Civilization in Central Asia, and received information about the institute. In addition to Rector Ünal, Dean of OMU Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Cengiz Çokluk, Head of OMU International Relations Office Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunoğlu, and The Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies Deputy Director Süreyya Kerimova attended the visit.

Informing Rector Ünal and the accompanying delegation about the classification, repair, and categorization of manuscripts, Institute Deputy Director Süreyya Kerimova said:

“We will be pleased that Turkish academics benefit from the institute, especially Turkish and Uzbek transcription studies.”

The Abu Rayhan Biruni Institute of Oriental Studies

Within the framework of the ongoing manuscript collection activities at the Institute, there are around 26 thousand hardcover pieces. The Institute’s precious collection has works in history, philosophy, astronomy, medicine, mathematics, and Islamic sciences from the 9th to the 19th centuries.
