Two Studies of OMÜ-KÖKMER Are Among the 5 Projects Awarded by Gilead Sciences

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Stem Cell Application and Research Center's (KÖKMER) two projects received a grant/award in the category of "Scientific Projects" within the scope of "Ideas That Come to Life with Gilead," the support program of Gilead Sciences Turkey since 2013.

Each year, Gilead Sciences supports a limited number of projects under the "Ideas That Come to Life" Program to improve the screening, diagnosis and/or access to appropriate treatments in the fields of HIV, viral hepatitis, systemic fungal infections, oncology, and hematological malignancies.

The Project "Determining the expression level and prognostic relationship of HJURP, a member of the histone-binding protein family, in leukemia stem cells, and investigating its biomarker potentials" is coordinated by Center Manager Dr. Melek Yüce and researched by Dr. Esra Albayrak, Prof. Dr. Canan Albayrak, Prof. Dr. Engin Kelkitli, Prof. Dr. Ferhat Say received a grant of 113,129 TL. The Project " Investigation of the Expression Profiles of HHLA-2, the Immune Regulatory Ligand of the 'B7 Protein Family', in Acute Lymphoid and Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Stem Cells and Its Potential as a Biomarker " is coordinated by Dr. Esra Albayrak and researched by Dr. Melek Yüce, Prof. Dr. Canan Albayrak, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Turgut, Prof. Dr. Ferhat Say received a grant of 110.459 TL.

The projects eligible for support will be announced to the public, and plaques will be presented at the Ideas That Come to Life with Gilead Press Conference to be held by Gilead Sciences on October 19, 2022, at the Swissotel The Bosphorus.
