Türkiye and Ukraine Strengthen Academic Bonds through OMU-KNUTD Agreement

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) and Kyiv National University of Technology and Design (KNUTD) have signed a scientific and educational collaboration agreement.

The protocol was signed at OMU Rectorate by OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Fatma Aydın and KNUTD Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Liudmyla Hanushchak-Yefimenko.

Aiming to Address Educational and Scientific Development Needs

The agreement aims to address the needs for the development of education and science, to better inform each other about the state of cultural and social issues in both countries, and to establish unified academic criteria in science and education among European and world countries.

Academic Staff Exchange

Collaboration in education will be realized through bilateral academic staff exchange, aiming to enhance educational activities. Exchanges will include participation in seminars, workshops, conferences, lectures, library research, laboratory work, departmental activities, institute collaborations, Joint Dual Degree Programs, and programs supporting the modernization of higher education.

Students Can Study at Both Universities

The agreement allows students and postgraduate students from both institutions to study at OMU and KNUTD for different periods until they earn an academic or scientific degree. The process for signing an Erasmus+ Exchange Agreement between the parties has also been initiated within this framework. Additionally, both universities have agreed to work towards mutual recognition of undergraduate and graduate diplomas.

Agreement Valid for Five Years

The agreement, valid for five years, includes joint scientific studies, publications such as articles and monographs, and the organization of joint cultural and sports activities (festivals, competitions, etc.) and retreats for students, postgraduate students, academic staff, and researchers.

The signing ceremony was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşe Pınar Sümer, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Said Kurşunoğlu, Career and Employment Center Director Assoc. Prof. Nataliia Fastovets, TÜBİTAK International Bilateral Collaboration Project Manager Assoc. Prof. Ali Kahramanoğlu, and project team members Prof. Dr. Kürşat Demiryürek, Prof. Dr. Süleyman Yaman, Assoc. Prof. Belgin Bal İncebacak, Assoc. Prof. Nur İlkay Abacı, Dr. Aslı Sarışan Tungaç, and Research Assistant Ahmet Yesevi Koçyiğit.
