Savings measures were discussed in the meeting held at the Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) in line with the implementation of "the Circular on the Operation and Use of Heating Systems".

The meeting organized in the Pink Hall of Atatürk Congress and Culture Center was held with the participation of Vice Rector Prof. Vedat Ceyhan, Rector's Advisor Prof. Yüksel Ardalı, Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Menderes Kabadayı, heads of the departments, faculty secretaries, deputy directors of the centers, managers of the units, security chiefs, heating center officials, workers, and technical staff.

Rector's Advisor, Prof. Yüksel Ardalı, Chairman of the Savings Commission, made a speech in the first place and she referred to the "Zero Waste Policy" being implemented within the scope of Ondokuz Mayıs University. Yüksel Ardalı remarked: "Zero Waste means the recycling of the wastes that we define as garbage and their economization. In other words, zero waste symbolizes the savings. We will follow the processes of recycling and reuse of our wastes in recycling units. There's also the issue of hazardous waste at this stage. We also prepare waste management policies for such substances. Cooperation is a must for less consumption and more savings; the aforesaid initiatives cannot be achieved by a single person, it can be only ensured through our collective attitudes. We observe positive developments and I believe that the process will reach better outcomes in the future".

Secretary-General Assoc. Prof. Menderes Kabadayı pointed out that a significant portion of OMU's budget was used for the heating costs. He stated: "Approximately 7 million 400 thousand cubic meters of natural gas and 200 tons of heating oil are consumed at our university every year and approximately 13 million TL of financial resources are used for heating. Our university, which shows sensitivity about using its financial resources efficiently and effectively, gives special importance to more efficient operation of heating system and saving by taking necessary precautions. Therefore, the Circular on the operation and use of the heating system has been sent to all our units with the signature of Rector Prof. Sait Bilgiç".
