Assoc. Prof. Dr. Buğra Genç from Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Veterinary Medicine's Department of Laboratory Animals has been appointed as a working group member to the COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) action “CA22109 - Medicinal Plants for Animal Health Care: Translating Tradition into Modern Veterinary Medicine (MedPlants4Vet).”

Dr. Genç joins a working group that targets policies, regulations, and research addressing the health of animals and their owners. These efforts align with national and international action plans related to antimicrobial resistance and the One Health approach.

The CA22109 group aims to significantly increase organic farming in line with the European Green Deal. This includes addressing the need for veterinary herbal medicines as first-line treatments for animal diseases on organic farms, despite existing demands and the current shortcomings in EU legislation concerning the market authorization of veterinary herbal medicinal products.

Ondokuz Mayıs University congratulates our academician on his appointment and wishes him success in contributing to the action.
