OMU Search and Rescue Team Assigned in Osmaniye

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal met with the OMU Search and Rescue Team members, which was established with the participation of students, staff, and volunteers to take part in the search and rescue efforts of any disaster that may occur.

After the meeting, it was decided to assign the 9-person OMU Search and Rescue Team to the Osmaniye earthquake region. After completing the preparations, the team set out.

Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Cengiz Batuk, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Başoğlu, Prof. Dr. Selim Eren, Prof. Dr. Sevim Alisir, Secretary General Prof. Dr. İdris Varıcı, and team members attended the meeting held at OMU Search and Rescue Team Center.

During the meeting, Rector Ünal pointed out that in training given by Samsun AFAD Provincial Directorate, team members gained experience by learning practically the knowledge and method that will save lives in possible disaster situations.

Stating that the team members learned the protection methods that should be applied before and after the disaster, Rector Ünal made statements about the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş. Rector Ünal said, "We wish God's mercy on our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaraş and felt in our surrounding cities, and we wish a quick recovery to the injured. Together with our state's institutions, we stand by our citizens affected by the earthquake in search and rescue activities and aid. We assigned the OMÜ Search and Rescue Team to the Osmaniye earthquake region. After the preparations, they set out. I wish them success in their search and rescue efforts." used the phrases.
