Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) ranked 35th among Turkish universities in the 2022 Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index prepared by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK), making an 11-step leap compared to 2021.

The 11th edition of the Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index, prepared by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) for the first time in Turkey in 2012, was announced on April 1, 2023. This index aims to trigger and measure universities' innovation and entrepreneurship activities.

Universities are ranked based on 23 indicators under 4 dimensions

The top 50 entrepreneurial and innovative universities are ranked based on 23 indicators under the dimensions of "Scientific and Technological Research Competence," "Intellectual Property Pool," "Collaboration and Interaction," and "Economic and Social Contributions," and the results are shared with the public.

OMU achieves a significant leap, from 46th to 35th place

OMU entered the Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index for the first time in 2014, ranking 50th, but could not make it to the rankings in subsequent years. However, in 2021, OMU ranked 46th in the index and achieved a significant leap, climbing to 35th place the following year. With its consecutive presence in the rankings for two years and an 11-rank improvement, OMU has demonstrated its determination and consistency.

Data set of 1 million cells collected through 9 months of rigorous work with the contribution of 287 institutions

Two hundred eighty-seven institutions contributed to collecting the data required for the 2022 Entrepreneurial and Innovative University Index, in which 192 universities with 50 or more academic members are evaluated. A data set of 1 million cells was collected and evaluated after passing through various checks during the preparation process of the index, which took nine months of rigorous work.
