OMU Participated in the General Assembly Meeting of the Community of Mediterranean Universities

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) participated in the General Assembly and Executive Board Meeting of the Community of Mediterranean Universities (CMU). OMU is a stakeholder of the community.

During the online General Assembly and Executive Board Meeting of CMU, whose members include the leading universities of Mediterranean countries, OMU was represented by Vice-Rector of OMU Prof. Dr. Fehmi Yazıcı and Head of the Euromediterranean Cultures and Tourism Master's Programme and CMU Coordinator Prof. Dr. Nalan Kızıltan

OMU is the partner and coordinator of the master's programme in Turkey

OMU is a stakeholder and the coordinator of the Euromediterranean Cultures and Tourism Master's Programme, which stands out as the only programme in Turkey. At the meeting, which started with the opening speech of CMU Secretary-General Mohamed El Aswad, participants discussed various topics such as new memberships, the 2019 - 2020 budget and 2020 - 2021 budget expenditures, cooperation projects and the situation of the international students enrolled at the programme.

The "Peace Tree" project within the scope of cooperation with the Apulia Academy of Sciences was also discussed. The meeting continued with the election of the board representatives of the member countries of CMU.

Digitalization and the fifth generation university concept were discussed during the workshop.

After the meeting, a workshop entitled "Digitizing: A Tool for HE Teaching (Digitalization in Higher Education) was held. In the workshop's first session, professor Dr. Carlo Di Benedetta, faculty member of the University of Bari in Italy and CMU Head Coordinator, shared their presentation titled "Pros and Cons of Adopting Digitization in HE Teaching."

The workshop continued with the presentation by Eastern Mediterranean University faculty member Prof. Dr. Necdet Osam titled "Towards the 5th Generation of Universities: Are We Ready for Changes?" focusing on the concept of "fifth generation university."

Ten students graduated from the international program at OMU in 2019

The University of Bari University in Italy gave the first graduates of the Euromediterranean Cultures and Tourism Master's Program in 2010. In 2019, ten international students graduated from the same program at OMU.
