OMU Engineering Workshop Brought Together Different National Actors

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering held the “Basic Machine Dynamics Education Workshop” in the OMU Guesthouse which was attended by a great number of participants from different universities and institutions including OMU Mechanical Engineering Department academic staff.


The Workshop Regulatory Board comprised of OMU academicians Asst. Prof. Dr. Nurdan Bilgin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hakan Özcan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Özbey and research assistants Mehmet Korkunç and Onur Yontar. Faculty of Engineering Management, all academic staff of the Mechanical Engineering Department, the Project Office and Machine Theory Association contributed to the success of the workshop with their support.

Basic Machine Dynamics Education Treated in All Its Aspects

The opening speech of the workshop was delivered by Prof. Dr. Erdem Koç. Afterward, Prof. Dr. Eres Söylemez, Prof. Dr. M. Kemal Özgören and Prof. Dr. Turgut Tümer from METU Mechanical Engineering shared their titles within the scope of the workshop.

Active Participation from Various Universities and TÜBİTAK-SAGE, Aselsan and Roketsan

Atatürk, Ankara, Yıldırım Beyazıt, Cumhuriyet, Erciyes, Fırat, Gaziosmanpaşa, Gümüşhane, Turkis Aeronautical Association Universities, İzmir Advanced Technology Institute participated in the event alongside a team of engineers from key national defense industry institutions TÜBİTAK-SAGE (the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey  - Defense Industry Research and Development Institute) Roketsan and Aselsan. A limited number of national machine producer companies also attended the event, and potential cooperation between participants was negotiated.

Seven students from the Machine Informatics Club also took part in the organization of the workshop, and they found the opportunity to follow the courses and meet with future colleagues. Social activities included in the 5-day long workshop led to the fusion of participants. The participants visited the Bandırma Steamer and City Museum during the city visit and reflected their satisfaction with the education taken and OMU hospitality.
