OMU Demonstrates Scientific Excellence at ISIF'24, Earning Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) demonstrated its high-level performance, showcasing its scientific and innovative potential by earning a total of 7 medals at the 9th International Invention Fair (ISIF'24), which began on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in Adana, as part of TEKNOFEST.

354 Inventions on Display, Including 298 Domestic and 56 Foreign Inventions

ISIF'24, organized at Adana Şakirpaşa Airport under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Türkiye Technology Team Foundation (T3), saw participation from 16 countries, with 354 inventions displayed—298 domestic and 56 international.

OMU's Superior Performance with 7 Medals

Among the 354 inventions evaluated by the jury, OMU stood out with ten innovations, earning one gold, one silver, and five bronze medals.

The fair, supported by the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURK PATENT), World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA), showcased numerous inventive works.

Hosting Over 5,000 Technologies from 62 Countries in 8 Years

ISIF, which has been organized since 2016 and is Türkiye's first and only international invention fair, has hosted more than 5,000 technologies from 62 countries over the past eight years.

Significant Progress in Local Patent, Trademark, and Design Applications in Türkiye

According to the World Intellectual Property Report, Türkiye ranks 17th globally in domestic patent applications and 4th in trademark applications worldwide, ranking first in Europe. In domestic design applications, Türkiye has risen to second place globally.

Silver Medal:

• "A Condensing Heat Chamber System for Systems Generating Electrical Energy Using a Thermoelectric Generator" (Prof. Dr. Yavuz Köysal, Lecturer Tahsin Atalay, Lecturer Hakan Bülbül, Lecturer Yusuf Yakut)

Bronze Medals:

• "Artificial Brain Battery Imitating the Behavior of Neurons Responsible for the Transport of Adrenaline Produced in the Human Brain" (Asst. Prof. Dr. Burak Tekin)

• "Flexible Catheter with Cervical Camera for Insertion into the Cervix Uteri in Cows" (Asst. Prof. Dr. İdris Sancaktar, Gökhan Kanlı)

• "Next-Generation Hybrid Composite Heat Collector in a Single-Piece Metal Foam Form" (Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Gürbüz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Sungur)

• "Curcumin-Containing Oral Film for Wound Healing" (Prof. Dr. Feyza Otan Özden, Prof. Dr. Feza Geyikçi)

• "Encapsulated Liquid-Impregnated Pellet Fuel" (Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Gürbüz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bilal Sungur)
