An important meeting was held under the leadership of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, within the scope of the cooperation protocol signed between OMU and Millî Kablo Savunma Sanayi A.Ş. (MİLKAB) [National Cable Defense Industry Inc.].

The meeting was attended by MİLKAB Chairman of the Board Gökhan Kocabaş, MİLKAB General Manager Yavuz Ekinci, MİLKAB R&D Physicist Mertcan Abalı, Senior Specialist from the Presidency of Defense Industries Industrialization Department Aydın Bayraklı, Chairman of the Central Black Sea Cooperation Program (OKİP) Abdurrahman Karataş, Prof. Dr. Mevlüt Gürbüz from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. İdris Sancaktar from OMU Technology Transfer Office, and other relevant officials.

Focus on Localization and Nationalization

During the meeting, joint efforts to be carried out in cooperation between OMU and MİLKAB for localization and nationalization were discussed. These efforts were shared with the representative from the Presidency of Defense Industries, and necessary consultations were made regarding the initiatives. Following the meeting, the participants toured the OMU Campus and visited the Black Sea Advanced Technology Research and Application Center (KİTAM) to examine the laboratories that will be used in these efforts.

Significance of the Cooperation Protocol

The cooperation protocol between OMU and MİLKAB is poised to enable the university to take significant steps in contributing to the country's defense industry. The work to be undertaken under this protocol aims to support Türkiye's goals of localization and nationalization.
