A promotional meeting for the "Design for the Future Project" was held in Samsun.

This project, prepared with the support of a European Union grant, is a collaboration between the Samsun Furniture Businessmen's Association (MOBİD), Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ), and the Samsun Association of Disabled Women, aiming to boost employment among young people and women in the furniture sector.

"As a University, We Can Contribute to Training Your Existing Staff"

OMU Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal commented on the need for qualified human resources in the furniture industry.

He stated that the university could support the furniture sector in training skilled personnel, noting, "The furniture sector needs qualified human resources. It's not just about keeping the wheels turning today but about the future. If the sector doesn't develop qualified intermediate staff and integrate new, energized employees, it will face serious challenges in the future. As Ondokuz Mayıs University, we can contribute to training your current staff." He emphasized the rapid pace of technological change and the necessity to keep up with this evolution to achieve higher incomes.

Pointing out the likelihood of Samsun becoming a significant employment hub in the coming years, Ünal stressed the resulting need for trained intermediate staff. "In the next one or two years, Samsun will likely see a significant increase in employment opportunities. This will lead to uncontrolled migration, which in turn can pose challenges for the city, including sociological, psychological, and security issues. However, with proper education and the training of skilled intermediate personnel, prioritizing certified individuals in employment, this process can be managed," he said.

MOBİD President Özgür Uyanık shared details about the project, which is worth approximately 233,000 Euros.
