The First Zero-Waste Leaders of OMU Receive Their Certificates

The training program of "Zero-Waste Leaders are being trained" project carried out in cooperation with Samsun Teknopark and Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) was completed

Waste management training was organized for a total of 100 people including Samsun Technopark officers and the students from numerous faculties at OMU within the scope of the training program held on April 15-18 in Samsun in order to train the leaders encouraging social change in the issue of zero waste.

The trainings at the first day included numerous presentations such as "Technological Approach to the Waste Management" by Prof. Yüksel Ardalı, "What is Zero Waste Management Pyramid?" by Research Assistant Tolga Ayeri, and "Journey from Uncontrolled Disposal to Waste Management" by Research Assistant Özge Köksal with the participation of Vice Rector Prof. Mehmet Kuran and Mevlüt Özen, Secretary General of Middle Black Sea Development Agency (OKA). A workshop entitled "Waste or Trash?" was performed after the presentations. Interior architect Özlem Berk created a design workshop with the students after her speech named "Leaders Think on the Basis of Design".

Rector's Advisor Prof. Yüksel Ardalı remarked that the feedbacks were quite positive after 4 days of training, that the success could be achieved through cooperation, and that positive outcomes were obtained in the efforts made together with the administrative staff through the great supports of Rector Prof. Sait Bilgiç. She also stated that she really relied on the students, that the students showed their awareness in this training program and that they would share and spread this information in their future lives.

The designs made of the wastes were exhibited on the easles and numerous plans were made for the competition organized by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.
