Excitement Was High on Day Six of FISU University World Cup Combat Sports

Boxing and Muay Thai Qualifying competitions continued, and the Wrestling competitions began on the sixth day of FISU University World Cup Combat Sports.

Today's boxing fights met with the audience at Yalçın Taşmektepligil Sports Hall. A total of 24 athletes competed in the ring in the men's and women's categories. Six athletes represent Türkiye in boxing. Esra Özyol from Türkiye and Anastasia Kovalchuk from Ukraine qualified for the next round in the women's 57 kg category. Baiel Urustombayuulu from Kyrgyzstan and Ibrahim Boukedin from France in men's 51 kg., Axel Piette and Enzo Grau from France, Darren O'Connor from Ireland, Timur Akmatalıev from Kyrgyzstan, Chris Marco Eloundou from Germany, Danylo Lausanne from Ukraine and finally Eren Özdemir from Türkiye in men's 63,5 kg qualified for the next round.

FISU Executive Committee Member Gabriel Kothofa was among those who followed the fights with great curiosity and excitement. Kothofa went to the Turkish athlete Özdemir, who qualified for the next round, and presented his special congratulations and wished him continued success.

Irish Matthew McCloe, Hungarian Soma Mester, Ukrainian Maksym Molodan, Kyrgyz Sultan Asankul Uulu, Japanese Rento Tanaka, Turkmen Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov, Ukrainian Yaroslav Mykhalushko, and Turkish Tuğrul Han Erdemir advanced to the next round in men's 71kg. German Athlete Zeina Nassar, Japanese Hana Narita, and Turkish boxer Hatice Akbaş went up in the women's 54 kilos, while Irish Aoibhe Carabine and Korean Sujin Seon were the athletes who advanced to the next round in women's 75 kilos.

Muay Thai continues on its 3rd day with the excitement of elimination. A total of 24 athletes competed in the ring in the men's and women's categories. Fourteen athletes are students from Türkiye, the hosting country.

Nadiye Özdemir from Türkiye and Rudzma Abubakar from the Philippines in women's 51 kg, Ezgi Keleş and Ezgi Yılmaz from Türkiye in women's 54 kg, Devrim Aydın from Türkiye and Miryam Chalghomi from the United Arab Emirates in women's 63.5 kg advanced to the next rounds.

Samet Kartal from Türkiye and Jeerapong Paejumpu from Thailand in men's 57 kg, Kubilay Tarhan and İsmail Baran Özdemir from Türkiye in men's 67 kg, Vladyslav Hryhoriev and Oleksandr Yefimenko from Ukraine in men's 75 kg qualified to the next round.
On the 6th day of FISU World Martial Arts, Wrestling competitions took place in Mustafa Dagestanli Sports Center. Athletes competed in 6 disciplines.

Reza Momenijoujadeh from Iran won the gold medal in 57 kg, while Roberti Dingashvili from Georgia won the silver. Heorhii Kazanzhy from Ukraine won the gold medal, and Murat Bektaş from Türkiye won the silver medal in the 65 kg category.

Erfan Elahi from Iran won the gold medal in the 74 kg category, and Luka Marimidze from Georgia won the silver. Demid Karachenko from Ukraine won the gold medal in 86 kg, while Goga Mamiauri from Georgia won the silver.

In the 92 kg category, Turkish athlete Hacı Abdullah Dilek and Iranian athlete Ahmad Bazrıghaleh won the gold medal, while Erhan Yaylacı from Türkiye and Andrii Kharkovsky from Ukraine won the silver medal.

Seyed Mehdi Haahemijouybarı from Iran won the gold medal, and Yurii Idzinskyi from Ukraine won the silver medal in 125 kg.
