Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Atatürk Congress and Culture Center (AKM) hosted a historic event. The “Path to Liberation 1919” themed Turkish Folk Dance Performance, staged by Education Faculty students, offered the audience an unforgettable experience. The event aimed to convey the heroic stories and spirit of independence from the War of Independence to younger generations.
The performance was prepared as part of the General Culture Elective Turkish Folk Dances course. A hundred students from the Education Faculty underwent intensive training under the guidance of instructors Rukiye Uçkun and Suat Dolgun. On stage, the students presented a thematic narrative that took viewers on a historical journey from the War of Independence to the light of victory.
The performance depicted the Turkish nation's struggle for independence and the victories achieved under the leadership of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk through thematic dances. The showcase brought together Turkish folk dances from various regions, highlighting the country's historical and cultural richness.
Twenty primary and secondary school students from Atakum Youth Center also participated in the event. Despite their young age, these talented performers delivered a professional stage performance, earning great admiration from the audience.
The performance, attended by faculty members from various departments, students, and their families, was met with great enthusiasm. Education Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Hamza Çalışıcı thanked everyone involved at the end of the event, emphasizing the significance of such activities for education and culture.
The event concluded with a group photo of the audience and the performance team.
