Charting a New Course: How OMU's Vocational High School is Pioneering Specialized Education

Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School (VTAL) is one of the rare high schools in Turkey specialized in fields such as cybersecurity, defense electronic systems, and motor vehicle technologies, and it is making determined strides on the path to branding. The high school is particularly noteworthy for its education and technological innovations in the field of electric vehicles.

Based on the 2023 – 2024 period, OMU VTAL ranked high on the list of the top 100 Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools and Programs in Turkey, according to the most recent High School Entrance Exam (LGS) statistics.

In the rankings, OMU VTAL ranked 7th in Turkey for the highest score in the Information Technologies field, 2nd in the Cybersecurity field, 8th in the Electrical-Electronics Technologies field, and 3rd in the Motor Vehicles field. Additionally, it is positioned first among all programs within the Black Sea Region.

When the list of the top 100 vocational and technical Anatolian high schools with the highest scores nationwide is examined based on all areas and schools, OMU VTAL ranked 30th in Information Technologies, 41st in Cybersecurity, 45th in Electrical-Electronics Technology, and 59th in Motor Vehicle Technologies field.

Accommodation is also available

Established in its first year with a different vision, the high school carries the potential to rise to higher ranks in vocational and technical education with the support of OMU. By offering wide opportunities to young people from all over the country, especially from the Black Sea Region, OMU VTAL also provides accommodation facilities for students from different regions with its boys' and girls' dormitories.

In the list, Baykar National Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School ranked first in the Information Technologies field, Baykar National Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School again ranked second in the Aviation and Space Technologies field, and Özdemir Bayraktar Aviation and Space Technologies Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School ranked third in the Aviation and Space Technologies field.
